*Comprehensive: the Home Performance Audit

If you are planning to improve your home, the comprehensive audit will ensure your energy upgrade dollars are spent where they will actually save you money. It will show you exactly where energy loss occurs, so that you don't waste money guessing where to upgrade. For instance, replacement windows are the first thing people think of doing, but they typically don't pay back enough in energy savings to justify the cost. The comprehensive audit shows you where to spend your money to save energy.

We perform a whole-house performance diagnostic that includes :
  • omputerized analysis with whole-house energy modeling and component-by-component energy use
  • building shell efficiency - leakage at walls, attic and joints, condition of windows and doors, insulation
  • duct leakage (a major source of energy waste)
  • appliance efficiency and safety (impacting energy use and indoor air quality)
  • moisture problems (impacting durability and healthiness of your home)
  • estimated energy usage for each building component and use
  • ventilation adequacy for healthy indoor air
  • numberic cost and savings analysis of the best retrofits
  • HERS score that can qualify you for an Energy Improvement Mortgage, to pay for improvements at a favorable rate
  • Homeowners who first seal their homes and then add a solar system or other new equipment save money twice—first by reducing their demand for electricity, then by powering their houses with a smaller system, at less cost.

Pricing: $500 for homes up to 2500 sf (add 10¢ per square foot for larger homes) Click here to sign up

*Intermediate Level Audit: Home Energy Survey with Pressure Diagnostic

The Intermediate audit is more economical if you don't need a HERS score or computerized cost-benefit analysis. This survey will help you save money without major expenditures. It includes:
    • Pressure test of house to locate sources of air infiltration
    • Duct leakage test
    • Basic condition of building shell
    • Window types, glazing and frame materials, shading and efficiency
    • Estimated age and efficiency of mechanical equipment and appliances, and possible benefits of replacement
    • Light fixture types and opportunity for savings
    • Duct insulation and general condition
    • Water-using fixtures and pportunities for upgrade
    • Observable combustion appliance issues
    • Comparison of energy bills against standards
    • Information on measures you can do yourself

Pricing: $300 for houses 3500 sf and under (a little more for larger houses) Click here to sign up

    *Basic Audit: Home Energy Survey

For a limited budget, the Home Energy Survey is a basic review that includes all of the items from the imtermediate level audit except the house and duct pressure diagnostic. We still evaluate the building shell condition, windows, age and condition of equipment, lights, ducts, water-using fixtures, compare bills against standards, and give you information on what you can fix yourself or have someone do for you economically.
